Our first dance is next week and I think we’ll have a great turnout! Volunteering at dances is fun and watching the kids is awesome and so very entertaining. I personally think we should have a parents dance where the kids chaperone and we get to dance. I’d attend and embarrass our son in so many ways. See you next Friday!

Why am I so happy?

Because within about five days of asking, our volunteer list for our first event of the school year is full! Big thanks to Suzie Estes, Jennifer McBroom, Gretchen Hendrick, Holley Fatony, Tiffany Mobley, Jeff Boyet, Sandy Lester, Danielle Bourgoin, Claudia Rios, Tara Bowman-Kelley and Emily Anderson. We can’t pull off events without our parents, teachers and caregivers. My heart is full.

I have officially lost my mind

One week before school starts we are moving out of our home and into a new home. Downsizing, so you know, extra stuff to get rid of. And … that’s it. You fully understand the title now, I’m guessing.   ~Dena

If you build it, will they come?

Good morning, Falcon Family. This is my first welcome post as the incoming PTO President and I’m excited about the upcoming school year. The irony of writing this is no one knows this site exists yet. So let me take a minute, back up and tell you how this started.

I’m Dena Macdonald. I’m a graphic designer by trade, but eventually stumbled into marketing. I loved my job and my co-workers but was downsized and like so many in similar situations, will now tell you it was indeed a blessing in disguise. My main job now is wife and mom, and yes, I do love it and yes, I do know how lucky I am. I remember being that mom running into SACC at 6pm on the dot, yelling, “I’m here! I’m here!” I don’t miss that. Neither does the SACC personnel.

I (we) have one son, who is an incoming 8th grader. I was Secretary of the PTO last year under the awesome leadership of Kim Hammon (I have big shoes to fill). Somehow, I was voted in as President in May, and … here we are. This “blog” as I’m calling it, will literally be my random ramblings, thoughts and ponderings about this school year. I have no idea how often I will post. I have no idea how long each post will be. (I do know. They’ll be short.) I have no idea if anyone will read it, besides my mother. (Thanks, Mom.)

I hope our new site helps keep you informed and this blog a tiny bit entertained. If yes to either, then pass it on. I look forward to seeing you soon.   ~Dena
