Seeking Vendors for the Holiday Bazaar

Hello! Our PTO this year is offering our annual Holiday Bazaar fully online. What does that mean? We’re offering an online store for local vendors! We’ll help you get your listings set up and even process online payments for you –and cut you a check at the end. Our team will advertise and promote the fair, and YOU – all for similar prices as a booth you have to sit at for a full day. We’ll offer online sales for two weeks and end with a celebration (and a free raffle for anyone who made a purchase) at the FMS – socially distanced with Food Trucks!

WCS to Offer Free Breakfast and Lunch to All WCS Students

As of Wednesday, Sept 2, 2020 student meals in Williamson County Schools will be served at no cost to the student, through December 31, 2020.

It’s a result of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) extending its Summer Food Service Program. The free meals do not include a la care items, snack items or extra entrees, which may still be purchased at full price. The components of a breakfast and lunch meal are listed on the WCS Menus and Nutrition webpage.

The program extends the free meals until December 31, 2020. In January, regular meal prices will resume.

Free Homework Help Hotline

Whether your student is working remotely, online, or is back on campus next week, there are times that they need help you just can’t give. Last week, my daughter got stuck on a quesiton about polynomials and I just about cried trying to re-teach myself so I could teach her!

I didn’t realize this was a resource, and you may not have known it, either! So check this out:

First Flight

FMS will be holding their first annual First Flight this year for new students. Primarily attended by 6th graders, new students in 7th and 8th grade will also benefit from the chance to tour the school in small groups and learn about the campus.

You MUST Sign Up here, please!

First Flight on Thursday, August 27, 2020. Students and one adult can sign up for a 20 minute tour that will allow them to see the building before they enter the building on Friday or Monday for their first day of school. All tours will begin in our Performing Arts Center and be reminded that all participants will be required to wear a mask.

Spirit Wear Competition

For the 2020-2021 school year, the FMS PTO is running a Spirit Wear Design Competition! We’re looking for submissions from our talented students – one winning design will be featured as a t-shirt option in our upcoming Spirit Wear sale!

Our competition will run from August 19th – August 28, 2020. Submissions must be emailed to [email protected] by midnight Central Time on August 28, 2020.

Include in your submission:

  • Your Name
  • Your Grade
  • Your Email Address
  • Your design file as an email attachment in .jpg or .png format. Provide .ai, .eps or .svg formats if available.

Contest Rules

  • All submissions must be received via email by the deadline for consideration
  • Designs may not contain references to any political or religious events/movements
  • Designs may not contain swears/cuss words
  • Designs may not contain copyrighted images

Design Advice

Bold & flashy designs will transfer best to t-shirts; these will be screen printed designs. Small details will not print well.

Do not use more than 4 colors if possible (including shades/color variations!) Screen print costs increase with additional colors, and too many colors may prevent us from selecting your design due to cost.

Include our school colors and our Falcon! This is spirit wear and we want to show our Falcon Pride!

Red: #ca2240 | R(202) G(34) B(64)
Gray: #cdcfd0 | R(205) G(207) B(208)
Black: #231f20 | R(35) G(31) B(32)

  • Free t-shirt, any size
  • $15 Walmart Gift Card or $15 PBIS Credit

Third Prize

  • Free t-shirt, any size

How Winners Will Be Chosen

  • School spirit shown in the design
  • Graphic quality of provided image (to ensure it can be properly screen printed)
  • Adherence to Design Guidelines and Contest Rules

A committee of PTO members and school representatives will choose the contest winners.

What Does the PTO do?

If you’re new to PTOs, new to Fairview Middle School, or new to Fairview in general, you might be wondering: what does the PTO even do? Our mission statement is pretty simple: we want to enhance education and community in our schools every year. We do this through fundraising, teacher/staff and student funding for activities and needs the district doesn’t cover, and we look for opportunities to promote and celebrate our great community here at Fairview Middle School!

Student Events

Every year, the PTO puts on a variety of events. Typically, a year includes several student dances, a carnival, a big end of year celebration, prizes for PBIS at the school, and even a Holiday Bazaar, along with a variety of fun fundraising activities that give the kids a chance to set goals and earn prizes.

This year will look a little different due to COVID, but we’re still planning on doing lots of fun events for our students – just in different formats.

Staff Events

The PTO also works to keep teacher morale high and support our staff so they can come to FMS every day and give their absolute best to our students! This can come in the form of Teacher Appreciation Week, new teacher welcome gifts, the occasional catered staff lunch or breakfast, etc. Our teachers often volunteer at PTO fundraisers like dances and the Holiday Bazaar, too!

Fundraising & Volunteering

We accomplish all of this through fundraising and volunteer work – that’s where we need you! Our Board is made up of just 5 members, and there’s a lot for us to do! We have a number of committees that you can volunteer for, and we also ask for help in passive fundraising (just click a few buttons and you’re done – no soliciting, no donation of your own required!)

Funding Requests

Finally, the board works to provide funding for special needs or requests by the school. For example, in 2020-2021 we’re beginning to look into a new electronic sign for the school (FMS is the only school without an electronic sign), or new scoreboards for the gym.
